Relaxation Massage

Massage Isn’t Just for When You Hurt
Most people don’t think twice about taking care of their car, their home, or the countless other things they depend on every day. But what about the one thing you rely on every minute of every day, your body?
Massage is often thought of as something you schedule when your back hurts, your neck is stiff, or a sore muscle finally becomes impossible to ignore. Therapeutic massage can certainly help when your body is uncomfortable, but you don’t have to wait until something hurts to enjoy the benefits of massage.
Sometimes your body simply needs a chance to relax.
Think about what happens during an ordinary day. Muscles tighten as we work, drive, stand, lift, sit at a computer, care for our families and deal with everyday stress. Sometimes we don’t even notice how much tension we’re carrying until someone begins gently working those tired muscles.
Massage uses touch, movement and pressure to help tight muscles begin to relax. As the body starts letting go of that tension, something else often happens too: you begin to relax emotionally.
Your shoulders drop. Your breathing slows. Your mind gets a little quieter.
For a while, there is nowhere you have to be and nothing you have to accomplish.
Sometimes an Hour Makes the Rest of the Week Easier
Imagine someone working as a restaurant server here in Hudson, Florida.
She may spend an eight-hour shift walking back and forth across a hard floor, carrying trays, reaching, bending and standing almost continuously. Add a busy dining room, demanding customers and the normal pressures of life outside of work, and by the end of the week her feet hurt, her shoulders are tight and she is exhausted.
She doesn’t necessarily have an injury.
She’s simply asking a lot from her body every day.
Regular massage can become the time when those tired muscles finally get some attention. The soreness and tightness can begin to ease. She may leave feeling relaxed and refreshed, and that feeling can make those long workdays seem a little more manageable.
You don’t have to work in a Hudson restaurant to understand that feeling.
Maybe you spend your day behind a desk. Perhaps you work on your feet. Maybe you’re retired but want to remain active enough to garden, golf, travel or play with your grandchildren. You may be caring for a spouse or family member and rarely take time for yourself.
Whatever your routine looks like, your body keeps showing up for you every day.
Massage is one way of returning the favor.
More Than Sore Muscles
At Selah Massage & Healing Center, massage isn’t viewed simply as an occasional luxury or something reserved for birthdays and vacations.
It’s an opportunity to pause.
Sheila Shynski, LMT, believes every massage should begin by listening—to what you’re experiencing, how your body feels and what you need that particular day. Your session can then be adjusted using relaxation and therapeutic techniques rather than following exactly the same routine every time.
Some days you may need attention to a particularly tight area. Other days, what you need most may simply be an hour to relax and let the pressures of the week disappear.
Both are good reasons to schedule a massage.
Give Yourself Permission to Feel Better
You don’t need to wait for your body to start complaining before you take care of it.
Massage can simply be part of maintaining the body that carries you through your life—helping tired muscles relax, giving your mind a break and allowing you to walk back into the world feeling refreshed.
At Selah Massage & Healing Center in Hudson, Florida, we believe taking care of yourself isn’t something you should feel guilty about.
Sometimes the best reason to get a massage is remarkably simple:
Because you feel better when you do.
